$1.2M for Farms to Food Banks included in final budget bill!
Kentucky will now join the ranks of nearly 40 other states that provide state support for hunger relief efforts. Team Food Chain was instrumental in assisting the Kentucky Association of Food Banks to secure this funding -$600,000 per year over the next 2 years! Farms to Food Banks provides fresh, healthy produce to Kentuckians in need while reducing losses for farmers. KAFB will purchase Kentucky-grown surplus and Number 2 grade produce (perfectly edible but not sale-able on the retail market) and distribute it at no cost to struggling Kentuckians through the food bank network.
