On January 16, students from Kentucky Country Day traveled to the State Capitol in Frankfort for Children’s Advocacy Day. They were advocating on behalf of Team Food Chain. The students met with legislators to advocate for legislative approval of a specialty license plate dedicated to fighting hunger in all 120 counties of Kentucky. At the time, there was no state-funded program to combat hunger. While they learned it was not possible to have the plate approved via legislation (Team Food Chain currently addressing to the private sector), the students learned a bit about how government really works, and they discovered that their generation has a voice.
