Governor Bevin's vetoes are in and we're thrilled to report that the $600,000/year appropriation for the Farms to Food Banks program is included in the final two-year Kentucky state budget!
What an incredible victory for anti-hunger advocates, especially in this time of budget austerity.
It certainly would not have been possible without the 150 people filling the Capitol Rotunda for Food Bank Day 2016 or the meetings we had with 80 state legislators and 5 constitutional officers that day, as well as the phone calls and email messages throughout the session.
Thank you for taking the time to let our elected officials know about the importance of the Farms to Food Banks program; it paid off!
One final request for the budget season -- please consider sharing the following message on social media:
Thank you @GovMattBevin for funding #FarmstoFoodBanks! The program will support #Kentucky farmers while helping #endhunger. #kyga16
Thank you for taking action against hunger in Kentucky.
